Assata High School was founded in January of 1992 as an alternative school in the heart of Milwaukee. The school was formed by a group of committed community members concerned about the quality of education that Milwaukee’s Youth were receiving. Assata High School operates in partnerships with the Division of Contracted School Services through Milwaukee Public Schools.

COURSE OFFERINGS
Assata offers core subject areas required to meet graduation requirements. Various elective courses are offered according to student interests. Edgenuity is offered to assist students with recovering credit(s), or as a credit acceleration option. COMP Base Program is offered to promote on-track graduation for students that are behind (grade level) in their cohort year.
CAREER EXPLORATION OFFERINGS
Assata High School presents various career exploration and school-to-work opportunities. Upon enrollment, students list at least 3 career interests and twice a year we host a Career Fair. We use Xello to integrate Career Exploration into our curriculum. Once a week (6-week rotation) students will explore career interests and display their knowledge of the career in an exhibition. Throughout the year, students are exposed to College Fairs, Technical and Trade Exploration/Workshops, PreCollege Programs, Apprenticeship/Internships, and employment opportunities.
EXTRA-CURRICULar ACTIVITIES
Assata offers various extra-curricular activities to ensure that students have a well-rounded educational experience: Basketball Open Gym, Student Council, Yearbook Committee, Book-Club, Chess Club, and Fitness Group. Students are also allowed the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities at Obama High School.
